HydraWell & Lee Energy Systems Transform Onshore Well Abandonment in Denmark.

HydraWell and Lee Energy Systems (LES) successfully completed the permanent Plug & Abandonment (P&A) of three onshore gas storage wells in Denmark for WellGear BV in late 2024. Utilising HydraWell’s HydraHemera™ PWC® technology alongside LES’s Gator perforator, the project achieved significant time savings, cost reductions, and environmental benefits.

The partnership marked the first use of HydraHemera™ PWC® plugs onshore Denmark, overcoming technical challenges by leveraging off CFD modelling as well as innovative well-intervention methods. Despite unexpected scope changes, HydraWell and LES demonstrated flexibility by adapting to new requirements without delays.

The project saved 58 days compared to traditional methods, installing PWC® plugs in an average of 42 hours. Additionally, no explosives were used, furthering the commitment to environmental safety.

This successful operation reinforces HydraWell’s leadership in the P&A field and its dedication to efficient, sustainable solutions.
