HydraWell has secured a five-year contract with a view to progress further with the Netherlands-based well specialist WellGear to deliver PWC® services.
With a strong track record in sustainable well integrity and plug and abandonment (P&A) solutions, HydraWell will support the safe execution of the SITURN project, which is a long-term collaboration between WellGear, NAM and Arcadis, to decommission hundreds of onshore oil and gas wells, and restore the sites to their original state over the next 10-15 years.
The scope covers PWC® services for annular remediation across the wells in the Netherlands, using HydraWell’s proprietary technology to significantly streamline operational sequences compared to conventional section milling methods.
PWC® technology also delivers clear environmental advantages, eliminating swarf handling and metal cuttings while reducing transport requirements, pollution risk, and landfill use.
To date, HydraWell has successfully installed more than 700 wellbore barriers worldwide, including multiple projects across the UK and Norwegian Continental Shelf, the Netherlands, Australia, Brazil and Alaska. Our technology has proven particularly effective in wells where traditional decommissioning methods are often slower and more costly.
By using CFD-led optimisation for barrier placement, HydraWell improves accuracy and reliability, helping to reduce rework and supporting safe decommissioning in line with regulatory requirements.
