HydraWell strengthens team in Malaysia

HydraWell has strengthened its Malaysian operation with the appointment of experienced well and drilling engineer Jay Sern Chew.

Jay joins HydraWell from a major oilfield service provider, where he has worked since 2014. In his career to date, he has held roles as project operations engineer, junior intervention supervisor and drilling engineer in Malaysia, plug & abandonment project well engineer in Australia, drilling engineer in USA, plus he has worked in oilfield operations in Saudi Arabia, Mexico and India.

Jay holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, with a major in upstream oil and gas, from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“Jay has extensive experience from integrated operations, including plug & abandonment jobs. As HydraWell has a focus on the total integration responsibility for planning the well and execution of the plugging job, his experience is a perfect fit for us and our clients’ requirements,” says Mark Sørheim, CEO of HydraWell.

Jay joined HydraWell on 1st March and is joining the company’s growing team of well abandonment experts in PWC® – perforate, wash, cement – technology, which can be applied to plug & abandonment, slot recovery and well repair operations.

The PWC® method can install a rock-to-rock barrier in two days without having to bring swarf cuttings to the surface.
